Most Hornet fans thought the exhausting basketball season that saw both the boys and girls varsity teams take district crowns, and the ladies reaching the regional finals was over, but the third through sixth graders have brought their brand of exciting basketball to Mayo over the past six weeks.

Running the league this year was Ann Murphy. A special thanks has to go out to all of Ann's efforts in making the league another outstanding season.

Murphy not only ran the league, but also officiated for the ladies, prepared the gym, both prior and after games, and managed the photos, the stats and schedules, making the league a huge success once again.

A special thanks has to go out to all the coaches and the officials for taking part. Most certainly, the players and the parents have to be given praise for their participation and support for the league. Other important contributors were the scorekeepers that kept everybody aware of the game situations. Names are intentionally being left out here because nobody needs to be left out. It takes a large group of folks to make leagues like this a success, and Mayo certainly got that from several areas which is the reason for the annual success of this program with each role vital.

The league begins the third week of January each year and is a very worthwhile program to involve your child in. You will not be disappointed in the efforts of the staff and coaches. Look to see a lot more participants in 2007.
